Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, this Air-Fried Crispy Cauliflower is a healthier alternative to deep-fried appetizers. Coated in a flavorful seasoned batter and crunchy panko breadcrumbs, it’s perfect as a snack, side dish, or party appetizer with your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

For the Cauliflower

  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp paprika (optional, for extra color)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¾ cup cold water
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray

Optional Buffalo Sauce

  • ¼ cup hot sauce
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For Serving

  • Ranch dressing, blue cheese dressing, or garlic aioli
  • Fresh parsley, chopped
  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower
    • Wash and dry the cauliflower thoroughly.
    • Cut it into evenly sized florets.
  2. Make the Batter
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
    • Gradually whisk in the cold water until a smooth, lump-free batter forms.
  3. Coat the Cauliflower
    • Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, letting any excess drip off.
    • Roll the florets in panko breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer
    • Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Air Fry
    • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
    • Arrange the cauliflower in a single layer without overcrowding.
    • Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
    • Air fry for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Optional Buffalo Version
    • Mix the hot sauce, melted butter, honey, and garlic powder.
    • Toss the cooked cauliflower in the sauce and air fry for an additional 2 minutes for a sticky, flavorful coating.
  7. Serve
    • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately with ranch, garlic aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce and lemon wedges.
